Getting Started#

Welcome! The Farmhouse server hosts a bunch of apps for watching movies, listening to music, playing games, and more. Everything runs from our home server and is available to family and friends.

What you need#

An account. You should have received a username and password from Corey. If you haven’t, email him at coreytyhurst@gmail.com.
A device. Any phone, tablet, computer, or smart TV will work for most apps.
An internet connection. Everything works over the internet, whether you’re at the farmhouse or anywhere else.

Quick start#

Go to the dashboard at home.tyhurstfarmhouse.com – a single page with links to every Farmhouse app. Not everything listed there has a guide page; if you don’t recognize something, you probably don’t need it.
Pick an app from the dashboard or from this guide.
Log in with the username and password you were given.

Almost every app uses the same username and password. D&D is the exception – your DM gives you separate player credentials for it.

Stream TV shows and movies from the Farmhouse server, similar to Netflix or Hulu but with our own library.

How it works#

The streaming app (Jellyfin) has a library of movies and TV shows. You can browse, search, and stream anything in the library. New content gets added regularly.

Requesting Content#

Want to watch something that isn’t in the library? You can request it through Seer, the Farmhouse request app, and it’ll usually show up within a few hours.

How to request#

Go to request.tyhurstfarmhouse.com.
Log in with your Jellyfin account (the same one you use to watch TV & Movies).
Search for the movie or TV show you want.
Click on the result and hit Request.
For TV shows, you can request specific seasons or the entire series.

What happens next#

The system automatically searches for and downloads your request.
Movies usually appear within 1-2 hours.
TV shows may take a bit longer, especially full series.
You’ll see the status of your request on the app’s main page.

Tips#

Check the streaming library first. It might already be there.
Newly released movies and shows may take a few weeks to become available.
If your request hasn’t appeared after 24 hours, reach out to Corey.

Stream music from the Farmhouse server. The library has a wide collection you can listen to from anywhere.

On your computer#

Go to music.tyhurstfarmhouse.com.
Log in with your Farmhouse username and password – the same login you use for the other apps. If it doesn’t work, you may not have been added to the music app yet; email Corey.
Browse by artist, album, genre, or use the search bar.

On your phone#

The web player works on mobile, but dedicated apps give a better experience. The music server (Navidrome) works with any app that supports the Subsonic protocol:

Log in with your Farmhouse credentials.
Browse the library or search for a specific title.
Click a book and hit play. The web player tracks your progress automatically.

The Farmhouse runs its own internet radio stations – continuous music you can listen to in any browser. No login required. Each station plays a different style, 24/7.

Open a station using the links below. The bare radio.tyhurstfarmhouse.com address is the admin page, not a player – it won’t play music.

Play classic retro games right in your browser using EmulatorJS. No downloads or installs needed.

How to play#

Go to gaming.tyhurstfarmhouse.com.
You’ll see a tile for each console (NES, SNES, Game Boy, Sega Genesis, and more). Click a console to see its games.
Click a game to start playing.

Everything runs in your browser. A keyboard works for most games, but you can also connect a USB or Bluetooth controller for the full experience.

Dungeons & Dragons#

The Farmhouse hosts a virtual tabletop for D&D sessions using FoundryVTT.

Joining a session#

Open dnd1.tyhurstfarmhouse.com in Chrome or Edge (required for best compatibility).
Select your game world from the list.
Log in with the player credentials your DM gave you.
Your character sheet and the game map will load automatically.

If you see an “Administrator Access Required” screen instead of your game world, no session is running. Your DM has to start the world before you can log in – check with them about the schedule.

How do I get an account?

Email Corey at coreytyhurst@gmail.com. He’ll set you up with credentials for the apps you need access to.

Do I need a separate login for each app?

No – almost everything uses the same username and password:

TV & Movies, Audiobooks, Requesting Content, and Music all use your Farmhouse login.
Radio and Retro Gaming don’t require a login at all.
D&D is the only exception – your DM gives you separate player credentials for it.

If the Music app rejects your login, you may not have been added to it yet – email Corey.

Troubleshooting

Troubleshooting#

Try these steps before reaching out – they fix most issues. Click a problem to see the fix.

The page won’t load

Check your internet connection. Try loading a regular website like google.com.
Try a different browser. Chrome and Edge work best.
Clear your browser cache. This fixes a surprising number of issues.
- Chrome: Settings > Privacy and security > Clear browsing data
- Edge: Settings > Privacy, search, and services > Clear browsing data
Wait a few minutes and try again. The server may be restarting after an update.

Video is buffering or choppy

Lower the video quality. In the streaming app, click the gear icon during playback and choose a lower quality setting.
Try a wired connection instead of Wi-Fi if possible.
Close other tabs and apps that might be using bandwidth.
Try a different browser. Chrome generally handles video best.

The app says “unable to connect to server”

This usually means the server is temporarily down for maintenance or updates. Wait 10-15 minutes and try again. If it’s still down after an hour, let Corey know.
